Introduction:

In the same way that multiple batteries can be placed in a circuit, multiple lights can also make a variety of circuits. In my hallway, I have five halogen spotlights aimed at different pictures hanging on the wall. When one goes out, the others remain on. However, in a string of cheap holiday lights, when one goes out, the others go out also. What's the difference?

Open this simulation from PhET Interactive Simulations, University of Colorado, http://phet.colorado.edu.
  • Create a variety of circuits using multiple light bulbs, but only one battery.
  • An instruction sheet attached to your iCal subscription will guide your work. You can open the ThreeBulbs.cck file ONLY within the Circuit-Construction-Kit. Double-clicking on the file will NOT work, but choosing LOAD once your kit is open will. The C3 omnigraffle is similar in structure to the C2 omnigraffle you used in Wednesday's lesson.
